Budget

FY2007 - $474.1 million
- the fifth and final year of the annual $15 million "payments" from the DuPage Water Commission
- funding for "Access DuPage" which provides medical services for 7,000 low-income residents was cut by 50%
- county grants to not-for-profit agents that provide community and human services to over 30,000 low-income residents were cut by 65%
- mental health initiatives were reduced and funding for the Mental Health and Drug Court was reduced by up to 50%
- county funding of the Health Department was cut nearly 60%

Debt

DuPage County currently has $314.8 million in debt
- principal and interest payments to service the debt are $30 million a year
- assuming no new debt, the debt will be paid off in 2033

County Board Powers and Duties

The DuPage County Board holds all the powers of the County not assigned to elected officials or other boards.  Overall, it is responsible for the management of County funds and business and also fiscal and regulatory powers.  Policies and programs of the County Board are implemented through the levying of taxes and the appropriating of funds.  Click here for the County Code.

The County Board meets at 10:30 a.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month in County Board chambers on the third floor of the DuPage Center Administration Building, 421 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton.  Special meetings may be called by the DuPage County Board Chairman or one-third of the members.  Minutes of all Board proceedings are available for public inspection at the office of the County Clerk, DuPage Center Administration Building, Wheaton.

The County Board operates on the committee system. Items concerning county government are discussed in depth by standing and special committees which then refer the items to the Board with recommendations for passage or denial. The Committees are appointed by the County Board Chairman.
